Assessment of student achievement

1. A credit can be obtained only after the student achieves the results established by the syllabus, which is expressed in case of positive assessment defined under paragraph 4 of this rule.                                                           

2. It is not permissible to grant a credit by using only one form of evaluation (intermediate or final assessment). The assessment of  student performance is determined by a certain ratio:

a) Intermediate evaluation (intermediate exam/s or/and ongoing term assessment);

b) Assessment of the final examination/project.

3. Maximum assessment of the study course is 100 points

4. Evaluation system allows:

A) Five types of positive assessment:

a.a) (A) Excellent - 91-100 points of the evaluation;

a.b) (B) Very good - 81-90 points from maximum marks;

a.c) (C) Good - 71-80 points from maximum marks;

a.d) (D) Satisfactory - 61-70 points from maximum marks;

a.e) (E) Sufficient - 51-60 points from maximum marks.

B) Two types of negative assessment:

b.a) (FX) Did not pass - 41-50 points from maximum marks, which means that a student needs harder work to pass and is granted one additional attempt with independent work;

b.b) (F) Fail- 40 points and less from maximum marks, which means the performance a student is not sufficient and he/she has to learn the subject from the beginning.

5. The student, who collects no less than 51 points by summarizing the marks obtained through overstepping the minimal margin of intermediate evaluation/s and final examination, is entitled to take a final exam.

6. A student can take additional exam of the final examination if he/she collects 41-50 points from maximum marks which means the student needs harder work to pass and is granted one additional attempt with independent work;

7. In case of getting FX in the component of an educational program, a higher educational institution is shall appoint an additional exam not less than 5 days after announcement of final exam results. This obligation does not apply to the master's degree project / work.

8. The number of points a student obtains in the final assessment is not added to those on additional examination.

9. Assessment of the additional examination is concluding and will be reflected in the final assessment of the educational program component.

10. According to the result of an additional exam, assessment of a student is F-0 point if he/she obtains 0-50 points in the final evaluation of the educational component.  

11. Master's degree project / work should be assessed in the ongoing or subsequent term, where the student will complete his/her work on it. Master's project / work must be assessed once (with final assessment). The method/s and criteria relevant for evaluating the results should be used in the process of assessment.

12. In case of assessment considered for the scientific-research component of a master's educational program, provided in the sub-paragraph "b.a." of the subparagraph "b" of  the paragraph 4 of the rule, a master’s degree student will be entitled to submit the completed scientific-research component within the subsequent semester, but, in case of obtaining the results considered under the subparagraph "b.b" of the subparagraph "b" of this rule,  the student loses the right to present the same scientific-research component.

13. Teaching and learning methods at the institution include: lecture, interactive lecture, working group, practical work, seminar, teaching with electronic resources, e-learning, curation, etc. Teaching-learning method includes relevant activities (discussion, debates, demonstration, presentation, seminar and others);

14. Forms of evaluation are as follows: Intermediate assessment and final assessment

15. Positive assessment of a student is defined by summarizing the marks obtained by crossing the minimum margin set in the intermediate evaluation and final examination, which should be equal to 51 points or more.

16. European University sets minimum and maximum margin from 30% to 50%, and 30% -50% + 1 point in the final exam. The margin of minimum competence is set in each educational program. Assessment components, methods and criteria are specified in the syllabus of each course.

17. Educational Program Components - Components of educational program consist of an educational component and scientific research / research component;

a) Study component - the part of an educational program component represented in the form of the study course, module, practice, practical type project, bachelor research project / work or other component;

b) Scientific-Research Component – the part of master’s educational program component presented as a master's project / work;
